The story draupadi by Mahasweta devi reflects the frustrated life of tribal people, who killed the landlord for torturing them. The story revolves around a santhal tribal woman, Draupadi who can be considered as raging  forest fire against oppression. Even she is not allowed to use her name as "Draupadi" and it was named as "Dopedi" this reflects the cast and religious discrimination existed and still existing in the northern Parts of India.

The backstory of her arrest has a major role in describing about the ruthless violence of authorities. She is often compared to the "Draupadi" in Mahabharata, who was Subjected to Polyandry and humiliation. These words of Dopdie spits the truth with a deep meaning, to undress a woman is to easy, but to protect her from such savages  is a herculean task , more than that a man who made her naked in front of others has no any right to tell her to wear clothes. This story depicts how women's body become the Primary target of attack in a conflict. This tradition has been as long when wars were originated .
