A Drop of Appreciation , An Ocean of impacts
"A teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops" - Henry adams
It's true that simple appreciation can change someone's life. Through my life, I've experienced it in the best way possible. To be frank, I wasn't a diligent student who studied daily and prepared for exams. During my higher secondary days, I often spent lectures sleeping; I think it's the most peaceful time to sleep.
Unexpectedly, one day changed everything. It was in the last days of October 2023. My English teacher suddenly asked us to submit our homework during her lecture. I was unaware that she had assigned homework, and I didn't have my English notes. I was confused about what to write.
I started writing about my family trip to Bangalore and the man I met at Yeshwanthpur Railway Station. My handwriting is always messy and unclear when I write quickly. I had enough time to write a one-and-a-half-page blog about it.
Until she reached me, I was worried and confused about what I had written. I didn't know if it was a proper blog or not. I just wrote from the heart. I felt anxious that my blog wouldn't be good enough because I wrote it hastily without proper grammar checks.
When she reached my friend, who is the teacher's pet and class leader, I thought the teacher would tease me for writing about a faint topic without using literary devices. However, after reading my blog, she announced it as the best blog in the class. I thought she might be sarcastic, but she asked everyone to applaud and praised my writing style.
That small appreciation paved the way for my blogging experience. On the very next night, I started my blogger account and posted my first blog, 'The Stranger.' Now, it's been 15 months, and blogging has become my favorite way to spend time. I always enjoy checking the stats.
It was a small appreciation, but it meant a lot to me. It was just a small acknowledgement from a teacher, but it showed me my potential. Later, I realized that this small appreciation had a huge impact. I was a person who swore not to choose languages as my major subject for UG, but now I'm a B.A. English student, and I'm happy with my choice.
